at what temperature should heat be added into the chicken coop of laying chickens?

I don’t heat my henhouse until the temperature is cold enough to freeze the water at night. And, for safety’s sake, we don’t use a heater but use instead a reflective clamp lamp with a warming bulb, such as the kind you probably bought when your chickens were chicks. As long as the temps are above freezing in the hen house, and the walls are free of drafts, your chickens will winter just fine.
